Doesn’t this just say it all!

Love the Troops, Hate the War

I am a former Republican, I oppose George W. Bush Jr and his administration, I live in a town near a military base, and I am against the war. That tends to make some people believe that I am not a patriotic American citizen.

Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s easy to go along with the crowd, to blend in, and be one of the faceless masses, to take the cowards way out. It’s hard to stand up for your principles and do the right thing when it is unpopular, and by doing so making a target out of yourself.

Many people have been mislead by the pundits, the corporation owned media, and their incessant spin, into believing that if you disagree with the president that you do not support the troops, and are thus unpatriotic.

One of the hardest jobs of a peace activist is explaining that is not the case to people who’s short media refined attention span only allows them to hear the shortest of sound bites. I feel this bumper sticker manages it quite nicely.

I firmly believe that George W. Bush and his administration intentionally lied to Congress, the American people, and the world in order to justify the invasion of Iraq. Each American, each person, who has died in the war since then, has died for a lie.

For that reason and others, I oppose this war, and I want our troops brought home as soon as reasonably possible.

Thank you Americablog!
