The Pour House Café is your typical small town café you find in most every little town in the U.S. The once white frame building sits on the corner of highway 41A and Slipknot Road. It is the place where problems are solved, gossip is started and grease is consumed.
Square foot for square foot more characters eat here than most any place south of Mayberry.

There’s a man living across from Christine Piesyk who, every morning, sits outside on his porch taking in the new day. This morning Wednesday August 30th 2006, he heard frantic screaming from Christine’s house at a little before 7 a.m.. Then Christine’s front window exploded and smoke started pouring out of the house. He jumped up and ran for the phone.
When I got to Christine’s house at around 1 pm., the front two windows were black gaping holes. A heap of melted and blackened furniture and other debris was stacked up in the front yard. «Read the rest of this article»

Back in 2004 Jon Stewart appeared on the CNN show Crossfire with Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson to promote his Book “America: A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction”. During his interview he issued a scathing indictment of the press and media in this country and thier dumbing down of the public discourse.
You can sometimes say things in jest, that you never would be able to say outright.

How many cable channels do I subscribe to? Or more importantly, how many do I really watch?
The answer is discouraging. About a hundred channels pour into my house, including a number of music channels on a family tier. I watch about a dozen of them. My grandchildren listen to few more. Is it worth the cost? Probably not. As a matter of fact, definitely not. But cable comes in “packages.” All or nothing.
