I have to say that was the best post I have seen on this site. I just spent about 30 minutes getting an email together about Newsweek changing its cover story in America from "Losing Afghanistan" to some photography story. However the rest of the world will get the "Losing Afghanistan" story. That may be a post later. Anyway the email was about my Canadian friends who think that Amercians do not pay attention to the world around them.
By day, I am a desk jockey. I have a radio at work and coporate radio sucks. But I do catch the neocon talk shows: Leddy, O'Really (mispelling intended), and Valentine. They have been talking about the Clinton thing all week. Interesting though they havent played any footage, always it is them reading the transcripts (clue #1). I havent had a tv in over a year, so until I saw your article I hadn't seen the interviw before before. I realized something quickly. The radio guys when quoting Clinton only used 4 or 5 phrases, and not in the same order they were in the actual interview. And the same with the question that Wallace asked, the radio guys weren't quoting the whole question (Clues 2, 3 and 4). To listen to them, Wallace asked "why didnt you do more about Bin Laden?" and Clinton erupted. Of course they only used a selected 4 or 5 phrases of Clinton's, which quite honestly, all of the phrases ran together by the 'reader' did sound like Clinton had lost it. The radio talking heads also never said how long the interview was. I was actually surprised by its length. Anyway with that background, this was a GREAT post. Especially the speech by Murrow.
If your not a journalist or researcher, man, you should be. Thanks for reminding me that there are Amercians that care, and by attention to what is going on, and are using that freedom and knowledge to encourage and inform others.
