Local art scene not a hoax!

Ice House CafeMiddle Tennessee is a very veristile place to be.  Universities and miliary presence bring a vast variety of people and cultures together.

We all celebrate our culture and lives through human expression.  One of the purest forms of this is our art.  There is an event held here in Clarksville once a month to allow us all to express and share our art.  This event is The UPtown Artists’ Swap, held the last Saturday evening of every month from 7-10PM.  This event is hosted by The Icehouse Cafe (118 University Ave, between Cafe 541 and Burrito Bungalo).  In addition to hosting the event, the cafe graciously donates it’s wall space every month for Art X-Po, which showcases group and solo exhibitions of the region’s most premier artists.  All events at the cafe are all ages, free, and open to the public!

This month’s ‘Swap’ will be held this Saturday, Sept 30!  On hand will be many local artists including Miranda Herrick, Jesse Shaw, Brandt Hardin, Charles Bennett, Mike McKelvey and many many more!  ALL artists are invited to bring original arts and crafts to sell and trade.  Tables are available on a first come, first serve basis.  This provides a marketplace for the artists and public as well as a creative breeding-ground for artists to fuel their collective fire!  To top it off, special musical guest Ben Wilson will be on hand to entertain!

This will be one of the public’s last chances to see the Art X-Po monthly display of TOPSY-TURVY: new works from Brandt Hardin.  Jesse Shaw’s American Printmaker: Demons exhibition will open next Thursday (Oct 5) from 5-8PM during Clarksville’s Downtown Artwalk.

For more information about Art X-Po or UPtown Artists’ Swap, feel free to contact Brandt at (931) 220-4532 or The Icehouse Cafe.
