HAUNTING HISTORY HIKES at Dunbar Cave

Dunbar Cave Haunting history hikes

See what haunting history lurks inside the cave through these 3 fun and informative, not scary, skits performed by young professional actors.

You’ll learn haunting facts from Ben (Hi!), the Science Guy, hear the hauntingly happy memories of the Roy Acuff and Big Band Era days and leave with haunting questions about the ancient Indian art found in caves.

Haunting History Hikes through Dunbar Cave

When: 5pm-8pm on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th
Where: Dunbar Cave Visitors Center, Dunbar Cave State Natural Area
Admission: $5 a person, All proceeds go right back into the Park

BRING YOUR OWN FLASHLIGHT, children must be over 3 years old to go into the cave. Wear tennis shoes or better, (no heals or flip flops). You can wear costumes to this (what fun!), but take off your mask to go inside the cave (it’s difficult enough to see with just a flashlight! And wear hiking shoes). No photography in the cave. No pets in the cave.

These brand new skits are written and produced by Debbie Boen and acted by former stars of the Roxy Theatre, Ben McCormack, Elizabeth Hadden, Isabelle Harden, Katie Harden, Rachel Jones, Corey Klem and Logan Klem.

Critics have this to say about the skits

“Striking!” says Chicken Little of Starstruck.

“All that was missing was the popcorn!” says local patron, Eidey Lot

“Hauntingly familiar!” says I. M. Dunbar

Additional features of this event

  • Exquisitely carved pumpkins in the cave by Amy Wallace
  • Tiki Torch lit path to the cave
  • Free hot chocolate and apple cider at the Visitor Center
  • Tee shirts on sale by Friends of Dunbar Cave
  • Put a bat on the bat wall for $1, also by Friends
  • A cave!
  • The dark (there’s no place darker than a cave)

No reservations necessary. Bring the kids (over 3—to go into the cave), bring the adults! Tours leave the visitor center every time there’s enough people gathered, so parents can switch off watching the very young ones, or the pets, to go into the cave. Everyone will get something hauntingly valuable out of this event. All actors and helpers are volunteers. They enjoy your applause and enthusiasm! And you will be supporting our valuable park at the same time!
