Dems take Senate too!

By Christine Anne Piesyk | November 8, 2006 | Print This Post

Democratic Party LogoWith the narrowest of margins, it was announced tonight that the Democrats took Virginia, changing the power structure of the U.S. Senate in addition to the overwhelming shift in power in the House of Representatives. When I wrote my previous post on Tuesday’s elections, several states had not yet counted all their ballots. Tonight, around 8:30, networks across the board announced a Democratic victory in Virginia – that critical 6thstate needed to change the balance of power in the Senate.

Add to that the resignation earlier of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield, and the conciliatory “olive branch” offered by the soundly defeated Bush administration. «Read the rest of this article»

Voters opt to “change the course…”

By Christine Anne Piesyk | November 8, 2006 | Print This Post

A Microvote Infinity voting machineVoters, some angry, others frustrated, all determined to cast their vote, were sitting on hard metal folding chairs, or leaning against walls, waiting hours after the polls actually closed to punch the keys on the computerized ballot that would make their voices heard.

At 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, several precincts were still in operation, still with long lines, and there would be no word on any local results until that voting was all but over. Coffee, hot chocolate and pizzas were delivered at several locations for hungry and sometimes chilled voters to consume. «Read the rest of this article»

John Edwards on the importance of voting in this election.

By Bill Larson | November 6, 2006 | Print This Post

Democratic Party LogoThis is what’s at stake in this election. We have two major parties in the most powerful nation on the planet. One of them has been running this country for the last 6 years. Look at what we’ve got. I mean beyond the scandals and corruption. Look at what’s happened in the world. Chaos, danger, and insecurity. It is not too much to say that the future of the world’s at stake in this election… That was said by John Edwards, and he’s exactly right.

Each person out there knows what must be done. If you have read  the posts on this site since June, you know why. Tommorow sets the path this country takes for 2 more years. Do we the voters swing it back from the edge of the cliff, or do we stay the course until our nation is driven right over the edge. The choice is up to you.
