George Carlin - The owners of this country

By Bill Larson | January 24, 2007 | Print This Post

Comedian George CarlinGeorge Carlin can be profane but he has a real clarity of vision that’s sadly lacking in our national corporate owned news media. The following video is a commentary/rant about the owners of this country and what they really want. The owners of this country are not who you think. We’ve heard from the politicians tonight, now lets hear the truth!

Incase you missed my hint above it the following video contains satire, humor and profanity, if you are easily offended do not watch it. If you are a minor, please do not watch it. If you lack a sense of humor do not watch it. You have been warned….

Friends Of Clarksville in 2007

By Charles Cook | January 18, 2007 | Print This Post

Citizens voters, and taxpayers have asked, “Where is Friends of Clarksville”. Remember the political forums? FOC was there. Remember the conflicting information concerning the City Court? FOC researched the city code and the audits to clarify the issue.

Did you know someone wanted to build a power plant in Clarksville? FOC did and provided your elected officials (County Commissioners and City Council) with a fact book. The power company quietly left town after refusing to participate in a question and answer forum open to the public. Did you know TVA may be planning to build an electrical power transmission line over your house? FOC does and we are still waiting for the final “Final” decision on the corridor. Did you participate in the City-County Consolidation forums to voice your questions and concerns? FOC was there but we didn’t see very many of you. Did you complete the County questionnaire? I did’t think so; otherwise the percentage of participation would have been higher. «Read the rest of this article»

ACLU Report Shows Widespread Pentagon Surveillance of Peace Activists

By Bill Larson | January 17, 2007 | Print This Post

Don't spy on me - ACLUNEW YORK - The American Civil Liberties Union today released a new report revealing that the Pentagon monitored at least 186 anti-military protests in the United States and collected more than 2,800 reports involving Americans in an anti-terrorist threat database.

Pentagon Tracked at Least 186 Anti-Military Protests

“It cannot be an accident or coincidence that nearly 200 anti-war protests ended up in a Pentagon threat database,” said Ann Beeson, Associate Legal Director of the ACLU. “This unchecked surveillance is part of a broad pattern of the Bush administration using ‘national security’ as an excuse to run roughshod over the privacy and free speech rights of Americans.”

We invaded Iran last night

By Bill Larson | January 17, 2007 | Print This Post

Anti-war Uncle Sam(Originally posted on 01/11/07)

We invaded the nation of Iran last night. Our troops entered an Iranian embassy located in the town of Irbil Iraq, and took computers, documents, and six members of the embassy staff into custody.

Iraqi officials said Thursday that multinational forces detained as many as six Iranians in an overnight raid on Tehran’s diplomatic mission in the northern city of Irbil….

The forces stormed the Iranian mission at about 3 a.m., detaining the five staffers and confiscating computers and documents, two senior local Kurdish officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information….

A resident living near the mission said the foreign force used stun bombs in the raid and brought down an Iranian flag that was on the roof of the two-story yellow house. - The Associated Press

Update: (01/17/2007) Now Sudan is claiming that we have invaded and searched their Embassy in Iraq as well..

KHARTOUM, Sudan (Reuters) — Sudan on Wednesday summoned the senior U.S. diplomat in Khartoum after it said American troops raided the Sudanese Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, violating diplomatic conventions, a foreign ministry spokesman said….

…”Nine American soldiers in four military vehicles forcibly went into the embassy after overpowering the guards and searched the embassy offices inside,” said Ali al-Sadig, Sudan’s foreign ministry spokesman….

Anyone else seeing a pattern here?

Anti-war speech by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

By Bill Larson | January 16, 2007 | Print This Post

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Whitehouse in 1964This is just as applicable today as it was in 1967. All you need to do is swap out the word Iraq with Vietnam, and Iraqi with Vietnamese. It’s frequently said that those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it. This is something I think is absolutely on target. We forgot…

By David W. Shelton | January 16, 2007 | Print This Post

KeyboardClarksville Online has grown beyond all of our imaginations, and we’ve had the occasional hiccup. That’s nothing unexpected! Growing pains aside, we are putting out a call for writers.

As you can probably tell, many of CO’s most active writers often write from a more liberal viewpoint. We are delighted to provide alternative views from Clarksville’s residents that write informed, thought-provoking articles that challenge conventional rhetoric. «Read the rest of this article»
