Regrets in Iraq

George W. Bush Jr and his Mission Accomplished signKadhim al-Jubouri, the man who attacked the base of the massive statue of Saddam over four years ago, now speaks out against the invasion which removed the former Iraqi leader from power in the video clip which is below the fold, and the associated story.Ā

So this is what we have gained from:Ā over 4 years of occupation; over $410,031,316,072 wasted; the loss of over 3223 US Soldier’s lives,Ā Ā not to mention the neverending pain and loss felt by their loved ones; the 23,417Ā soldier’s who were wounded and/or maimed for life? All for a war which was intended toĀ enrichĀ the corporate bottom line for politically connected defense contractors like Dick Cheney’s Halliburton and KBR. Say no more to this lunacy and start bringing our troops home!

If you still supportĀ the war then it’s time for you to begin to use the brains God gave you, and think! Stop confusingĀ your personal loyalty to a particular political party or politician, with patriotism or supporting the troops. They are not the same thing.

The situation in Iraq has turned 180 degrees causing those Iraqi’s who initially supported our presence to begin to oppose it.Ā  Kadhim said it best:

The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t. We no longer know friend from foe. The situation is becoming more dangerous. It’s not getting better at all. People are poor and the prices are going higher and higher… Saddam, he says, “was like Stalin. But the occupation is proving to be worse”. – Kadhim al-Jubouri, “the man who toppled Saddam”

We all remember this iconic image on our TV’s shortly after our glorious victory over the forces of darkness, which is clearly show in this clip taken from CNN:

What many doesn’t know is the pulling down of the statue by American troops was actually a very carefully choreographed propaganda event.

  1. Use your brains. I do. All the time.

I have many friends who have served in Iraq. Some of them served multiple tours. They talk of the things that the American media doesn’t show – the people who get on their knees and thank them for freeing them from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein. The people who offer what little food and water they have to the soldiers.

The problems now are with the Iranians and Syrians who are running this insurgency.

You want lunacy? How about the “peace rally” where they burned an American soldier in effigy? That’s impressive.

  2. I frequently hear the same thing from the other side of the aisle about things which reflect badly on the administration. I can back up with reputable facts each of my statements on Iraq.

I am sure there are good things which are not shown but they can’t cover them because it is not safe for them to do so.

The issues i have with Iraq started with the justifications for the invasion. It changed countless times depending on the current political winds.

There are also issues with the legality of the war as well…

I know there are often questions on the accuracy of the wikipedia however with the many citations available you can easily go and verify their claims for your self.

As for your claims of soldiers being burned in effigy I can find no citation for that claim except on hard right wing web sites. Not one single reference to the event can be found on Google news. You can bet if it had happened that they would have covered it in some detail.

Lets just say it did happen which I DO NOT concede. That has no bearing and no effect on anyone other than the people who supposedly did the burning.

You bringing it up here is no different than me saying all right wing individuals are terrorists because of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Not one of the peace activists would stoop that low, so why do you feel that it is ok for you to do so?

Wanna debate? I am up for it any time. But be sure that you stick to the facts. We will gleefully call you out on any fudging.

Portland Oregon Anarchists Burn Soldier Effigy

On March 18th, in Portland Oregon USA to show their growing dissatisfaction with the United states government and growing discontent with people who say they are for peace and do nothing. Anarchists burn an effigy of a United States Soldier and American flag.

So itā€™s confirmed. However, these people ARE NOT peace activists. They are anarchists. Real peace activists can be heard in the video condemning their actions. I agree that this is wrong and and feel that what is shown in this video is reprehensible. This is not a negative reflection on the peace movement, just the anarchists.
