I've always loved these old films because they were fantastic escapes from the drudgery of regular life. However, "Forbidden Planet" is one of my favorites.

The animation alone was well worth the bad music. And who can resist seeing Leslie Nielsen before he went into comedy? This was sci-fi at its best, long before there was anything like Star Wars.

Great article!
