Community revitalization workshops underway

The Clarksville Office of Housing and Community DevelopmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development is hosting a series of community workshops related to future development of the Red River and Brandon Hills area. The workshops will be held at the Burt School at 110 Bailey Road (off Eight Street at APSU) in Clarksville on July 31st, August 14th, September 4th and September 18th from 7:00pm-8:30pm.

These workshops are designed to help determine the vision and future revitalization for both neighborhoods and will be facilitated by Nashville Civic Design Center with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development.

Workshop

According to the planners, “if you live in or own property in either the Red River or Brandon Hills communities, now is the time to get off the sidelines and actively participate in efforts to plan for the future of our neighborhoods … This your chance to revitalize and transform two historic downtown neighborhoods.”

The programs offered are not just informational meetings but actual workshops for which public input and opinions are sought and welcomed.

The July 30th meeting will review the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with revitalizing these neighborhoods. The August 14th session focuses on developing a vision for the community. September 14th offers an assessment of input from the first sessions (the opening meeting was held July 24th), and a final report will be presented to the public by the Civic Design Center on September 18th.

A trolley Tour of the areas in question will be held Monday, July 30th, from Marion and Eighth Streets. Reservations are required, but the tour and all programs are free. RSVP for any of the workshop sessions or the trolley tour by calling the Office of Housing and Development at 931.648.6133.
