The Ribb Doctor moves to Madison Street, expands menu

ribb-3.jpgThe Ribb Doctor, a popular award-winning local barbecue restaurant, has moved from their longstanding home on Tiny Town Road across from the Great Escape theater to 1923 Madison Street, in the Tradewinds South shopping center. The Ribb Doctor took over the slot once occupied by Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders. The shopping center is located opposite Barksdale Elementary School in the same shopping center that houses Carmike 8 Cinemas.

The restaurant’s manager, Debbie Mercado, had hoped to reopen the store at the end of June, but was delayed almost two weeks due to utility and other quirks that had to be ironed out. She has already seen several of her regular customers from the Tiny Town Road location who were glad to find their new home for what Mercado calls “the best food in town.”

Mercado (sometimes affectionately called ‘the Boston Bobblehead’ by other staff members), in her quirky New England accent, is quick to brag about the Ribb Doctor’s baby back ribs. “They fall off the bone, they’re so tender,” she said. “And you ask any customer, they’ll tell you the same thing.” The ribs are slow-cooked, and coated with their signature barbecue sauce. This isn’t neat eating, though. A roll of paper towels is provided to wipe fingers (after they’ve been properly licked, of course).

ribb-2.jpgThe Ribb Doctor has been honored with 2nd place in the Jack Daniels cookoff and other regional awards, and their sauces have also been honored.

The restaurant is open every Monday-Thursday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The menu consists of pulled pork sandwiches and plates (yes, they’ll put slaw on the bun if asked), beef brisket, chicken, ribs, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and desserts. New menu items include lunch salads and barbecue Philly sandwiches.

Carry-out orders and Catering is also available by calling the restaurant at (931) 906-4440.
