As this nation continues along its path in time, art and artistic expression have repeatedly been made targets of control and ridicule by those who feel compelled to be arbitrators of public taste. Too often, as in this case, those seeking to control are off the mark themselves.

Art works best as a reflection of society. If there is decay within that society, its art is likely to reflect it. We have long established and come to realize that not all art will be "pretty!"

If art can cause introspection, it has achieved its highest aspiration. Censoring artistic expression is sadly a repeated element of life in these United Sates.

Art is a technique of communication. The image is the most complete technique of all communication.~Claus Oldenburg

In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.~Ernst Fischer
