Light festival offers weekend entertainment

co-christmas-castle.JPGChristmas on the Cumberland will feature a live nativity scene and choral performances by Grace Church of the Nazarene on December 7 and 8 at McGregor Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Acro Dance Express, First Missionary Baptist Church, and Christy’s Dance Connection are scheduled to perform December 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Natalie’s Dance Network and the Tri-City Dance and Step Team are scheduled to perform December 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Santa will also visit Christmas on the Cumberland on December 14, 15, 21, and 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Christmas on the Cumberland is open nightly through January 1, 2008. Hours are Sunday-Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission to the city’s festival of holiday lights is free.

  1. I can’t wait to see the Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Unitarian Universalist, Buddhist, Islamic, Baha’i, Wiccan, and other religion themed events at the park this holiday season as well. Or has the city forgotten that this is not a Christian city, just as America is not a Christian nation. It is a nation which just happens to have some of its citizens who happen to be Christian.

    Love it, or hate it, but the separation of Church and State and the absolute freedom to worship as YOU see fit, that it gives, made the United States the great nation that it is today.
