I urge the full city council to respond favorably to this proposal. The services which the ARC provide to this community provide definite enhancement to our quality of life. Please contact your individual council representative and urge to support this action.

As someone who once found herself on the receiving end of Red Cross Assistance, and as someone who has volunteered with the Red Cross as well, I have an admitted bias toward them and sheer admiration for what they can accomplish with a predominantly volunteer staff.

I would like to each of their service areas step up to the plate and give back in the form of financial support for the acquisition of a new ERV. Red Cross volunteers give of their time, ands their money, since they pay for their own gas to travel to and from the office and disaster locations.

If the city can afford to erect gazebos and fountains, it can certainly contribute to an agency that provides so much to so many of its citizens. If the city had to pick up the costs of a comparable disaster response, the ERV would be paid in full and then some within a year. It is an investment in our community and our public safety.
