I agree with you on the representation point Jeff. Too many elected individuals from both parties forget they are in office to represent all voters in their districts not just the ones who support their campaign, or to fufil the aims of their political party. That applies from local races all the way up to the run for the presidency.

What I should have said is that of all the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts events that I have gone to, and that's been a lot, I have not seen Dr. Barnes there. There are around 20 teachers in the English Department at APSU and only a handful of them go to those events. My memory for names and faces is pretty lousy but I've been to so many of those events that I am now familiar with the English teachers who help out with them. I was shocked to find out that she is in the English department and that I hadn't already met her.
If I had never seen her at Jazz in the Lawn I wouldn't have thought about it the way I thought about the fact that this upcoming public servant is one I haven't seen at events that her department runs. I have heard that English teachers help with the events in other ways. I apologize for not researching more thoroughly.

I'm impressed that people are taking the time and trouble to write about how great she is.
It's thrilling to hear that Dr. Barnes is such a wonderful teacher. Teachers are our most valuable assets and they are rarely appreciated enough.
I'm sure she wouldn't say or think that I should feel priviledged to be allowed to write about her.

I've heard great things about both of them, but I would tend to give the edge to Kurita based on this article. I tend to sway away from candidates making personal attacks.

And I was "shocked" to read the last part of this article that said you had never met Dr. Barnes because, you claim, "she has never attended any of the events run by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts"??
Are you kidding? That's just not true! You do not even know this woman! Remember??

She is one of the most caring and dedicated women I know! She has spent countless hours working with and for the arts. She has been an inspiration to students, including my 2 sons and my daughter.
Dr. Barnes is not only well liked in this community, she is loved and very respected. Love and respect that she has earned.
Not only for her wonderful dedication to her work, her family, her students, her church, but because she is just an all around great person!
You would know that if you only took the time to know her.

My family and I feel blessed to know such good and descent people like Linda and Tim Barnes.
I pray Tim Barnes wins because I know he will do the right thing in the senate and restore some long lost integrity to that seat.

Integrity...that's what was missing from that article!

Dr. Barnes never at an event?! I go to Austin Peay, I see her everywhere she is a professor that cares deeply about the students and about the arts. One can always find Dr. Barnes recruiting students in other majors to come over to the English department. I would also like to say, as far as professors go, she is the best. I think it's safe to say that I would register for a class on how to watch paint dry if Dr. Barnes was the professor, I say this because I know without a doubt that she will make this exciting for student's, peak interests and become so involved with the subject at hand that one would literally be able to see the passion from what she was teaching move from across the room from her and transplant into the students. When students come into Dr. Barnes' classroom and are drained from the ongoings of the day and their knowledge tank on empty, she gladly fills them up and this my friend does not cost 4 dollars a gallon, the only thing one has to pay is attention. So from here on out (Debbie Boen) let there be no question of Dr. Barnes commitment to education. I would also like to say that I find it very disrespectful to bring up a candidate's wife, someone who has devoted her life to her family, her church, her community, and to her students. The fact that you have never seen her at any of these events makes me wonder if you have ever attended any events. Dr. Barnes is what is great about this country she is the salt of the earth and you should be lucky that you get to write about her.

P.S. I was also informed that Dr Barnes won the title of strawberry princess so I wanted to take the time to congratulate her for that! You will make a great first lady of the 22nd district keep up the good work!

[...] Clarksville Online recaps a debate between state Senator Rosalind Kurita and her Democratic challenger Tim Barnes: How to deal with illegal aliens? Barnes: Get the Feds to do their job. Kurita: I have a serious problem with just wishing it on the Feds. Stiffen fines on people who hire them. Documentation and tax paying should be required of all working peoples. [...]
