The article says at the end:
"As citizens we will face periodic faith challenges as to the rights of minorities. our community is better when we respect and even defend the rights of our Jewish citizens, and citizens of all faiths beyond our own."

Well, I guess that leaves out those of us who are
complete religious skeptics. Do I have to start
believing in God to get my rights defended?

Didn't the Gidieon people know and understand that their presence could not be used to spark harassment of anyone not stopping at their tables? The quoted taunt reported by the Jewish student shows an ignorance that is baffling. Was his taunter really so naive or, was it really an effort to shame or harass. This suggests itself as an example of "the tyranny of the majority!"

Religious diversity and sensitivity are not unheard of concepts, even in Texas. That principal should be aggressive in ensuring respect for and protection of religious diversity within his student body.
