Thanks for the story about this film on ClarksvilleOnLine! My son and I raced off to Nashville to catch it at the Green Hills Mall cinema.
The Green Hills cinema production of this film carried a good sized crowd. Except for some audience potty breaks we were glued to our seats and the screen. My son felt that the movie gave us hope to repair this damage. I felt more overwhelmed by the horror of it. The movie showed our current debt problem in relationship to our entire nation’s past debt problems. Without going into personal stories of the sufferings of individuals during the great depression and other times, we can stand back and see that we have solved the other debts as a nation. It is also easy to see why this current dept is very serious. So much depends on the next leader that we choose. And that leader has to confront this problem head-on. And we have to confront it head-on in waking up to what our elected officials are doing. We need to make them accountable for their actions and that has to override the lobbying interests. Our education system has to wake up our children to critical thinking and knowing how our country runs.
Our education lacks; we buy more than we produce; and we are living on borrowed money from other countries. We need to drop the partisan complaints and look at the truth of this matter. We are nine trillion dollars in debt. Like Christine said, that's nine with lots of zeros and four commas.
The economic geniuses in this movie tell us, in plain terms, what we are facing.
Our theatre audience response to the movie and panel discussion was intense interest, laughing and clapping. We were a lot more awake (know what I mean) when we left the theatre.
