Enrollment numbers remain strong at APSU

Austin Peay State University continues its growth in student enrollment for the fall semester, following the release of data from the satellite campus at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Now that Fall II 2008 figures from the Austin Peay Center @ Fort Campbell are complete, APSU has a total enrollment of 9,401 students for the Fall 2008 semester, a 4.6 percent increase over Fall 2007 when 8,987 students were enrolled. The figures include both main campus and the Fort Campbell campus.

The number of students attending APSU full time is 7,498, compared with a full-time equivalency (FTE) enrollment of 7,103 in Fall 2007. That represents a 5.5 percent increase.

Unlike any other state university in Tennessee, APSU cannot file final enrollment data until after the 14th day of classes of the Fall II Term at the Austin Peay Center @ Fort Campbell, which was Nov. 2.

At the Fort Campbell Center, APSU has a headcount of 1,437 students, nearly 300 more students, or a 23.2 percent gain, than in Fall 2007. The FTE at the Austin Peay Center @ Fort Campbell for Fall 2008 is 548, a 20.1 percent jump over last year.

APSU is in the process of constructing its own education building on post, adjacent to the English Education Center, to accommodate growing enrollment at Fort Campbell. Six universities offer classes at Fort Campbell, but APSU enrollment is more than the other five added together.
