After discussing the what Dr. Rocheleau calls “the idea of human rights,” he will discuss some of the implications of a serious commitment to human rights for issues regarding the treatment of prisoners of war, and obligations to assist those in humanitarian crises. He will also address US immigration policy. Dr. Rocheleau will also take questions on the topic. During his 8-year tenure at Austin Peay, Dr. Rocheleau has taught specifically on continental philosophy, ethics, and political philosophy. He is currently teaching a graduate level course in the military history program on the ethics of war. He is the co-author of Rights and Wrongs in the College Classroom: Ethical Issues in Postsecondary Teaching. He lives in Clarksville with his wife and son. The Clarksville Human Relations Commission is a volunteer group of men and women from all walks of life that are appointed by the Mayor.
