Injuries reported in CTA bus accidentBREAKING NEWS: On the last run of the evening, the Clarksville Transit Authority Route 2 bus which traverses Fort Campbell Boulevard serving North Clarksville, was involved in an accident on New Providence Boulevard near Discount Liquors and the New Providence Car Wash. “Mistaken identity” triggers tougher school dismissal proceduresA staff member at Kenwood Elementary School was suspended for five days without pay following an incident in which a five-year-old girl was mistakenly released to a Meritan Company case worker and released from school, according to CMCSS Director of Schools Michael Harris. The child’s mother, Shaquanna Downs, spoke to media outside the school department prior to the CMCSS press conference. Fairground development detailed; water park quashed, pavilion replacement on holdPlans for a municipal waterpark at Fairgrounds Park were quashed yesterday by the city’s Marina Committee, a move that came as no surprise to some Clarksville residents. The redevelopment of the fairgrounds in to a marina/park has a $32 million price tag, a sum or leveraged debt approved by the Clarksville City Council several months ago.
Jim Durrett said the city is “not stopping” the water park but rather searching for a new location and conducting a “feasibility study” on whether Clarksville could or would support such a facility. «Read the rest of this article» Community Centers set holiday hours for President’s DayAll Clarksville Community Centers will be operating on holiday hours on Monday, February 16th, in observance of Presidents Day. Over the next 5 years a half a billion dollars in job training money will be coming to Clarksville. Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) will open a new plant in Clarksville that will hire over 1,000 construction workers to build, and provide over 800 permanent high paying jobs when they open. HSC will be one of the richest employers in Clarksville’s history since the arrival of Fort Campbell in the 1940s. Under the President’s Economic Recovery Bill, states and counties are poised to receive significant federal funding to stimulate the economy and put people back to work. The same individual may have committed both Robberies. On January 19, at approximately 10:30 p.m, a male subject entered McDonald’s, walked behind the counter, pointed a handgun at the employees, and demanded money. “Empty Bowls” raises $8000 to fight hungerLarge bowls. Small bowls. Soft muted colors or bright flamboyant tones. each bowls signed by its creator and donated to to benefit locals social service programs in their fight to end hunger. Empty Bowls Clarksville 2009 was held Thursday at the Montgomery County Civic Center, and each of those bowls was sold — hundreds of them, raising a total of $8000 to be divided between the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and Urban Ministries. “Hope Not Hunger” was theme of the event. For a $15 donation, patrons could choose a handmade and signed bowl from the hundreds on display; each bowl was places in a small rafia bag. Guests then sat down to enjoy a meal that included a choice of soup (hearty beef vegetable, vegetarian vegetable or chicken noodle), along with chunky bread, a beverage and dessert. «Read the rest of this article» |
