February “saturation patrol” results released

The Clarksville Police Department’s DUI Checkpoint and saturation patrols, partially funded by the Governor’s Highway Safety Office, to detect DUI/Impaired drivers was held February 27 and 28 between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The checkpoints yielded the following results: 9 DUIs, 1 Implied Consent, 13 Speeding, 13 Insurance Law, 2 Seat Belt, 12 Equipment Violations, 7 Driver License Violations, 5 Revoked/Suspended Driver Licenses, 5 Vehicle Registration, 7 Tint, 1 Drug Paraphernalia, 1 Unlawful Carrying of a Deadly Weapon, 1 Open Container, 3 Consuming Alcohol Under 21, 4 Curfew, 2 Violation of Probation and 2 Warrants.

Trio Verlaine delights listeners

The Clarksville Community Concert Association presented the fourth of five concerts at Austin Peay State University on March 6, featuring Trio Verlaine.

Trio Verlaine features Lorna McGhee on flute, Heidi Krutzen on Harp and David Harding on Viola. The program included Serenade Op. 23 by Ludwig von Beethoven, Sonata for Flute, Harp and Viola by Claude Debussy, and Trombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel. the performance concluded with Piazzola’s Le Grand Tango.

The series will conclude April 3 with a performance by the John Proulx Trio.

Homeless man charged with aggravated robbery

A Clarksville man is being held on $100,000 bond on a charge of Aggravated Robbery  in connection with a robbery of  on Riverside Drive.

On March 9,  officers responded to an armed robbery of Regions Bank on Riverside Drive.  The suspect, later identified as Ronald William Bartlett Jr. (W/M), 33, listed as homeless, entered the bank, walked up to the teller, and passed her a note demanding money.  The teller said that Bartlett made a motion toward his pocket, making the teller believe that he was armed.  Bartlett took the money and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.  A witness followed Bartlett and saw him get into a car parked at a nearby business.  «Read the rest of this article»

APSU senior artists schedule exhibits

The Austin Peay State University Department of Art has scheduled several student art exhibitions for the Spring 2009 semester.

First degree murder charges filed in murder of female soldier

A Clarksville man has been charged with first degree murder and is being held without bond in the death of  his wife, Ashley Cecelia Barnes-Lambert (W/F), 19,  a military member with the United States Army who had been stationed in Afghanistan.

According to Detective Alan Charvis, at approximately 10 a.m. on March 7, Trooper Krystal Mathis initiated a traffic stop on a 2007 Mercury Mariner, driven by Khaleefa Lambert (B/M) 28, of 231 Pin Oak, Apt D, Clarksville, after that vehicle was in a near-miss accident with a patrol car on I-24 near Exit 1. «Read the rest of this article»

A few words directed to a friend, neighbor or family member or even an adored pet, can release a resevoir of strength within . Normally, these are words of appreciation and acknoledgement.

prayerAt Fort Leonard Wood, the Army’s largest basic and advanced training post, I served with command leaders to include hundreds of drill sergeants of all ranks. I served, too, commanders that I would have followed into combat at any time and any place. How did these men and women impress me and receive my loyalty?
