“Porkin’ in the Park”: Music, grillin’ and great food

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville is sponsoring the second Porkin’ in the Park this Friday and Saturday, April 3-4. Admission is free for all events.

porkin_headerClarksville is now on the Kansas City Barbecue Society Great American BBQ tour. This will be a major for the pro grillers from around the country. There is NO admission charge. Food and drink will be sold.

The schedule of events includes five hours of music on Friday on the Bud Light Stage on Strawberry Alley.  The events kicks off with the KCBS BBQ backyard grilling demonstration at 5 p.m., followed by three musical events: Southern Comfort at 6 p.m., Mike Robinson at 7;30 p.m. and the Beagles at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, April 4, events begin at 10 a.m. and run through 8 p.m. in Strawberry Alley. Backyard grilling Demonstrations will be held at 11 a.m. and an Iron Chef Competition is slated for 3:30 p.m. The day’s music includes the Holt Brothers at 2 p.m. and Passenger Creek at 5 p.m.

KCBS BBQ contestant set-up begins at 10 a.m. Friday, April 3,  with a Cook’s meeting and Low Country Boil Dinner at 6 p.m.

A contestant’s breakfast will be held Saturday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m.  Turn-in times are as follows:

  • 12:00 PM Chicken
  • 12:30 PM Pork Ribs
  • 1:00 PM Pork
  • 1:30 PM Beef Brisket
  • 2:00 Dessert
  • 4:00 PM Award Ceremony

Y”all come on down!!! If you like to grill and eat BBQ, you may be able to pickup some pointers. This is the first of many events to be held at Strawberry Alley this spring and summer.
