CAMA announces new MLK Essay Scholarship Contest

 

The Clarksville Area Ministerial Association announces its new scholarship for the upcoming 2009-2010 collegiate school year. An essay contest will serve as the means for applicants to vie for winning one of three scholarships to be awarded.

Submissions are being sought for the Clarksville Area Ministerial Association’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest.

The Ministerial Association is proud to offer three academic scholarships for the coming 2009 – 2010 school year: Two Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarships and one Dr. William H. Corley scholarship.  Each scholarship is worth five hundred dollars. Each scholarship award will be based on the merit of an essay submitted to the Association.

For the purposes of the Clarksville Area Ministerial Association’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest, an essay is defined as a three page document that lays out and develops the theme ” Dr. King’s Dream For America.”

Each entrant must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a High School Senior.
  • Be accepted by a college or university.
  • Submit an essay no later than April 30, 2009.
  • Fulfill the content requirements of the essay.
  • Does not plagiarize another person’s work.

Each essay will be judged on the entrant’s ability to clearly demonstrate an understanding of Dr. King’s ideas, principles and conclusions, and which furthers those realities in a manner which is relevant to today’s ever changing world.

Submissions must be received by Clarksville Area Ministerial Assn, 731 Windermere Dr, Clarksville, TN 37043 no latter than 5:00 p.m., April 30, 2009.
