With less than 24 hours notice, Change That Works and its coalition partners staged a massive counter-demonstration at a Tea Party in Rutherford County in front of Rep. Bart Gordon’s office, turning a Tea Party into a “Healthcare Party”.

The anti-reform “Teabaggers”, who numbered about seven people, were overwhelmed as over 60 healthcare supporters stormed the square in downtown Murfreesboro to urge Bart Gordon to support H.R. 3200.
“It was great to see people honking their horns in support of us,” said Cecelia Moss of Murfreesboro. “We don’t normally see a lot of progressives and pro-healthcare supporters out here being visible, but there were quite a few folks who were working nearby who came over to stand with us. That was very encouraging”.
Change That Works would like to thank its coalition partners for spreading the word about the rally, including the Tennessee Health Care Campaign, Health Care for America Now, Organizing for America, and our friends in organized labor.
Remember, the time to pass legislation to provide quality, affordable healthcare for all is now. Call Rep. Bart Gordon (615-896-1986) and tell him to VOTE YES on H.R. 3200.
Wow, name calling. I just called Gordon to tell him to vote against this ridiculous bill. I used this article as an example of the the character of the people supporting it.
Scott, sorry if your feelings got hurt – I didn’t know that conservatives were so sensitive and thin-skinned.
Of course, you do know that the phrase “teabagger” has now pretty much worked its way into the pop culture to describe this “movement” that is driven by ignorance, selfishness, and racism – right?
Anyway, if name-calling is more important to you than getting your health insurance costs lowered (which is which this bill will do), then whatever. It’s good to see what conservatives’ priorities are now and I guess not offending your politically-correct sensibilities trumps fixing the healthcare crisis.
