APSU nursing program presents at prestigious international conference

Dr. Chita Farrar, director of the Austin Peay State University School of Nursing, had just spent several days in Vancouver, where the July weather was a little grayer and a little colder than in Tennessee, and she was eager to return home.

But that didn’t happen, following an overnight layover in Dallas, for another day. When she finally arrived back on campus, someone asked Farrar about her trip. She was unexpectedly upbeat.

“Our flight was canceled. We had bad weather. Was it worth it? Yes it was,” she said.

That’s because her visit to Canada (originally scheduled for Cancun, by the way, but rescheduled due to fears of swine flu) took her to the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Research Congress, where she and three faculty members showed off the work being done with APSU’s nursing simulation labs. «Read the rest of this article»

National Health Care Call-in Day: Thousands urge Congress to vote yes before recess

 

Tennesseans tell their representatives health care reform cannot wait

healthcareforamericanowNashvilleHealth Care for America Now (HCAN), the nation’s largest health care campaign, mobilized its members on Tuesday July 28th to tell Congress to vote yes on H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act, before the August recess. Constituents are reaching out to say health care reform cannot wait, and Congress should help President Obama pass health care reform that will make quality health care more affordable and give everyone the choice of a public health insurance option.

“This is an historic moment, and we hope our representatives will be on the right side of history,” said Georgia Weindling from Health Care for America Now. “When the House health care bill passes, we will be one step closer to achieving quality, affordable health care for everyone this year. Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry to host annual “Smile Line”

 

clarksvilledentalcenterOn Friday, August 7th at 11:00a.m. Dr. Ernest J. DeWald, DDS from the Clarksville Dental Center will appear on Talk of the Town on News Channel 5. He will be discussing the Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry’s Smile Line. The Smile Line will open on that day from 10am-4pm where a person can call 1-888-747-SMILE, and ask a dentist any dental question they would like. The Smile Line is a way of giving people a chance to ask questions that they are embarrassed to ask their own dentists. Once they have their questions are answered, they hope the person will feel more comfortable talking with their own dentist and scheduling an appointment. «Read the rest of this article»
