Art and Technology combine for new exhibit at APSU’s Trahern Gallery

Austin Peay State University LogoIn this technological age, art doesn’t have to take a back seat. In fact, the Internet and new forms of digital media are providing more opportunities for artists to create in the 21st century.

A new exhibit opening Aug. 31 at Austin Peay State University’s Trahern Gallery will highlight some groundbreaking work in this young artistic medium. The show, “Upgrade! Tennessee: New Media from Across the State,” will feature artists working with technology from across Tennessee.

“Upgrade! Tennessee” is part of the international Upgrade! Network, which combines art, technology and a commitment to bridging cultural divides. It is sponsored by the Space for New Media at Tennessee State University and TERMINALapsu.org, an Internet-based new media gallery sponsored by the APSU Department of Art.

The exhibition, which is open to the public, runs through Sept. 4. For more information, contact Barry Jones, assistant professor of art, at 931-221-7330 or jonesb@apsu.edu.
