In earning his second 2009-10 player of the week honor, Channels averaged 17 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in two contests last week. The senior hit 13-of-28 (46.4 percent) from the field, 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) from three-point range and 3-of-5 from the free throw line as Austin Peay topped Evansville at home, Tuesday, and lost at Missouri.
In scoring 23 points at Missouri, Channels hit 4-of-9 from 3-point range while going 9-of-20 overall from the field. In the win against Evansville, foul trouble limited the 6-2 senior to just 25 minutes but he still managed to score 11 points and help the Govs to the victory.
This is Channels’ fourth career OVC Player of the Week honor. He twice earned it in 2008-09.
