Mary’s Music Store re-opens their main floor location

During the Great Flood of 2010 in May, Mary’s Music like most Riverside Drive businesses was under several feet of water. This resulted in several hundred thousand dollars in damage both to their extensive stock of merchandise, and to their building on the corner of College Street and Riverside Drive. After the flood they received cleanup help from the volunteers, including a group of Soldiers from Fort Campbell, KY.

Kicking off the reconstruction phase, the store and what merchandise that could be saved was relocated to the upstairs to the Old I.O.O.F lodge location where it operated from until Monday when they re-opened their downstairs location.

Mary’s Music was founded in 1991, and purchased by John Mark Cox and Andy Jones in 2007. The store has provided for the vast majority of Clarksville’s musical needs. Working with them is Randy Lewis who for the last 18 years has handled the repair, tuning, and restringing of musical instruments.

The store sells musical instruments, and sells or rents instruments for school bands. They offer a huge lesson program, providing lessons on a wide variety musical instrument from the guitar to horns, along with special clinics on the Guitar and Drums. The store is also a location for Kindermusic classes, a way to get your child interested in music from a young age.

Mary’s Music has been involved in a big way with the local community. They are a sponsor of the Rivers and Spires Festival and Riverfest, They also provide Public Address systems for several of the summer camps like Camp Rainbow which caters to seriously ill children.

They are planning a flood auction to sell off items damaged by the flooding. More information on that will be released soon.

In the mean time drop by and check out their rebuilt store. Bring in a instrument for them to work on, or just buy a new one! And if you are not a natural musician enroll in one of their many classes!
