No Slack scouts and mortarmen guard Marawara

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchKunar Province, Afghanistan – Coalition forces recently pushed insurgents out of the Marawara District in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, July 4th.

Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, Task Force No Slack, are setting up permanent outposts to secure the area and prevent insurgents from returning.

Scanning the valley for insurgents

U.S. Army Sgt. Kyle V. Mortar fire observers

U.S. Army Pfc. Alex L. Kentner of Mountain View, MO, a scout observer and U.S. Army Pfc. Roy A. Arney II, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, a radio telephone operator, observe mortar fire and call in adjustments at Helicopter Landing Zone Hawk high above the Marawara District in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, July 5th. Both Soldiers are with the Scout Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, Task Force No Slack. The mortar mission was aimed at a nearby hillside where insurgents were observed.

Obtaining a grid for mortar fire

U.S. Army Pfc. Roy A.
