Lady Govs volleyball adds Giglio to staff

Austin Peay State University GovernorsEvin Giglio has been named Austin Peay State University’s assistant volleyball coach, the athletics department announced, Tuesday.

Giglio [GEE-lee-oh], who is originally from Canyon County, CA, will serve as the program’s assistant coach while Haley Janicek assumes the program’s head coaching duties. He joins the Lady Govs after completing his collegiate career at Springfield (Mass.) College, where he played and served as a student coach for the men’s volleyball program.

Prior to his two seasons at Springfield, Giglio coached the Conejo (Calif.) Crush Girls Volleyball Club for one season and was a student assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team while playing for the men’s team at Moorpark College (Calif.).

“It is an honor to get the chance to coach at Austin Peay,” said Giglio. “I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the program and can’t wait for the season to start. I would like to thank Haley and Cheryl Holt as well as the rest of the Athletic Department for an opportunity to be a part of such an amazing tradition.”

“We are very lucky to have Evin join our program,” said Janicek. “He has been a student of the game for years and has developed into a good coach and teacher. I trust he will do a great job in helping our team rise to the top of the OVC.”
