101st Airborne Soldier killed in action

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY — A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died July 14th in an attack by anti-Afghan forces at Combat Outpost Nolan near Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Private First Class Brandon M. King, 23, of Tallahassee, FL, was a field artillery automated tactical data system specialist assigned to the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. He entered the Army in September 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2010.

King’s awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Weapons Qualification: M4, expert.

King is survived by his parents, Gary S. and Carolyn A. of Tallahassee, FL.

A memorial ceremony will be held in Afghanistan.
