IED device detonates killing Two Fort Campbell Soldiers

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY – Two 101st Airborne Division Soldiers were killed August 17th, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their mounted patrol causing a military vehicle roll over in the Kunar province, Afghanistan.

Both Soldiers were Infantrymen assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault.)

Benjamen Glen Chisholm

Benjamen Glen ChisholmPrivate 1st Class Benjamen Glen Chisholm, 24, of Fort Worth, Texas. Chisholm entered the Army in August 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in January 2009.

His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Weapons Qualification: M4 rifle (expert).

Chisholm is survived by his wife, Amber Ferguson of Oak Grove, KY; his mother, Linda M. Reynolds of Fredericksburg, Texas; and his father, Glenn A. Chisholm of Woodburn, OR. 

Charles Milton High IV

Charles Milton High IVPrivate Charles Milton High IV, 21, of Albuquerque, NM. High entered the Army in June 2007 and arrived at Fort Campbell in October 2007.

His awards and decorations include:  Army Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; Combat Infantry Badge and Weapons Qualification: M4 rifle (expert).

High is survived by his mother, Kimberlea Johnston of New Mindon, IL and his father, Charles High of Albuquerque, NM.

A memorial service will be held for the fallen in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell also holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony. The next ceremony will be held September 8th at 4:00pm.
