Govs Football put two-a-days behind them

Austin Peay State University GovernorsAustin Peay State University’s football team wrapped up its final day of two-a-days, Thursday, without putting on complete pads for either practice.

The Govs were only in shoulder pads for Thursday morning’s practice and were in practice jerseys and shorts for the afternoon edition. In fact, the Govs will practice just once on Friday, again just in shorts, in preparation for Saturday’s 9:00am, scrimmage.

“We have several kids banged up and we decided to back off some, let them get their legs back, while trying to let some of the others heal up some,” APSU Coach Rick Christophel said.

Thursday morning’s practice saw sophomore quarterback Jake Ryan repeatedly find his wide receivers, in particular senior Adrian Mines and sophomore Devin Stark, against the young secondary.

In addition, senior back-up quarterback Trent Caffee showed no ill-effects from a shoulder injury suffered in Monday’s scrimmage. Caffee was limited with repetitions during Tuesday and Wednesday practices after having his arm hit while throwing a pass.
