Fort Campbell Soldier killed in Kandahar Province

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY, – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died September 17th, when his unit was attacked as he was serving as a gunner in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

Specialist Deangelo Barnell Snow, 22, of Saginaw, MI, was a quartermaster and chemical equipment repairer, assigned to the 526th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in July 2009.

His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; and the Combat Action Badge.

Snow is survived by his mother, Deloris S. Snow, of Saginaw, MI.

A memorial service will be held in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held October 6th at 4:00pm at the Family Readiness Center.
