Fort Campbell Soldier killed while on patrol

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died September 16th, when his unit was attacked by small arms fire as he was on a routine patrol in Howzemadad, Afghanistan. 

Sergeant Aaron K. Kramer, 22, of Salt Lake City, was an Infantryman, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  

He joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in March 2007.

His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Air Assault Badge; Parachutists Badge and the Ranger Tab. 

Kramer is survived by his wife, Jacklyn M. Kramer of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and parents, Richard and Shannon L. Kramer, both of Salt Lake City, UT. 

A memorial service will be held in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held October 6th at 4:00pm at the Family Readiness Center.
