APSU alumnus, actor to speak September 23rd as part of Honors Program Lecture Series

Clarksville, TN – As part of Austin Peay State University’s Honors Program Lecture Series, actor and producer David Alford will speak at 6:00pm, Thursday, September 23rd in the new Honors Commons on the main campus.
 
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

A native of Adams and alumnus of APSU, Alford studied at the Juilliard School for Drama in New York City. He founded the Mockingbird Theatre in Nashville in 1994 and served as its acting director until 2004.

From 2004-07 he was executive artistic director of Tennessee Repertory Theatre in Nashville and served as its first artist-in-residence until 2008. Alford has appeared in more than 50 professional theater productions. Screen credits include “The Last Castle” and Masterpiece Theatre’s production of “A Death in the Family,” which will be the subject of his lecture.
 
In addition, Alford has written and produced “Spirit: The Authentic Story of the Bell Witch of Tennessee” and “Smoke,” a musical concerning the tobacco wars in northern middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. He is currently director of drama programs at Martin Methodist College.
