“The tournament is going to be a challenging week for us and I couldn’t be more happy about the opportunity,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “Elks Run Golf Course is challenging and has some lengthy holes. To play well it will be necessary for us to play smart and be patient. The field at the event is very strong, therefore we have a great challenge in front of us.”

The lineup will feature 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year Chelsea Harris, who fired a final-round 72 in the MSU Drake Creek Invitational that included seven birdies. In addition, fellow senior Ashley Wathen, who had a pair of 77s in the first tourney, also is expected to help Harris lead the Lady Govs.

In addition, freshman Rachel Deaton, who finished her first college tourney with rounds of 76 and 78, will look to build upon on her initial success.

Junior Ashley Averitt, who has made significant improvement over the past year, will compete as a team member for a second straight week after qualifying for team play just once a year ago.

Senior Beth Ann Burns, who played as an individual in the first tourney, qualified for team play this week after shooting a 243 in Drake Creek play.

“Last week we made lots of birdies, so we know we are capable of playing well,” Robson said. “The thing we did not do well is finish strong. Our focus this week will be to figure out how to get rid of the big numbers and how to stay focused on the current shot and not on the future, this will be crucial to our success.”
