Transition May Cause Temporary Disruption To City’s Phone System

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville will begin transitioning to a centralized phone system next week. The first phase of the transition will include the Fire and Street Departments. This may result in intermittent disruptions to telephone calls made to select numbers while the transition is taking place.

The cutover for the Fire and Street Departments will begin at 7:30am on Tuesday September 28th.

At that time, the City’s IT Department will transfer the following telephone numbers to ring on the new phone system:

931-553-2458 – Fire Department
931-645-7454 – Fire Department
931-645-7456 – Fire Department
931-645-7462 – Fire Department
931-645-7464 – Street Department
931-553-2441 – Riverview Cemetery

Please note for the Fire Department, this does not affect any emergency numbers. You would still call 911 to report an emergency.

We will continue to transition other City of Clarksville departments over the next few months. This new phone system will provide additional capabilities such as voice mail with email features, a computer-based call manager application, back up capacity to make and receive phone calls if one part of the phone system fails, and additional capabilities to route received calls.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the phone system transition can call the Mayor’s office at 931-645-7444.
