Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

Billy Dunlop Park

Billy Dunlop Park will be closed to the public beginning at 3:00pm, October 19th. The park will reopen to the public the following day.

Final Jammin’ in the Alley Concert

Jammin' In the AlleyThe City of Clarksville together with U.S. Bank will soon be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley. Join us on Friday, October 15th downtown Clarksville for this season’s last free concert featuring Diana Pelham!

The concert begins at 7:00pm, come ready to eat, dance and have fun!

Bird Watching

Come out to the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road, on Saturday, October 23rd from 8:00am-9:00am to learn birding basics and how to identify birds.  This event is free to the public, for more information please call 931-645-7476.

Bark in the Park

Bring your 4-legged family members for a day of contest, demonstrations, prizes and more at our Fall Bark Park event.

The event will take place October 16th from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Bark Park located at Heritage Park.

Register TODAY for Youth & Adult Basketball Leagues

Clarksville Parks & Recreation will hold sign-ups for our youth basketball league open to ages 7-17, from October 9th-22nd from 8:00am-4:30pm at the Parks & Recreation main office located at 104 Public Square. Please bring your child’s birth certificate. Practices will begin November 1st and games will begin November 29th.

Sign-ups for adults, ages 18+ basketball league will be held at the Parks & Recreation’s main office located at 104 Public Square from 8:00am-4:30pm from October 8th-18th. Practices will begin October 18th and games will begin November 15th.

Sign-ups for the youth league will also take place October 9th, 16th, and 23rd from noon to 4:00pm at the Mall. Lastly, you can sign-up for both leagues at any of our three community centers.

“Art on the Park” Contest

“Art on the Park” ContestLooking for the ultimate venue to display your artwork? Students in grades 9-12 can submit their artwork now for the chance to win a $100.00 gift card, your framed artwork and the opportunity to paint your own design on various walls of the Heritage Park Skatepark!

All artwork may use up to 6 colors and must be submitted on 11” x 17” size poster board to the Parks & Recreation Main office located at 104 Public Square no later than 4:00pm on October 18th.

Kleeman Haunted Mansion

HalloweenCome for a night of fun and frights at the Kleeman Community Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

The haunting is October 22nd and 23rd from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Cost is $2.00 for adults (Ages 18 and up) and $1.00 for children (Ages 6-17).

Fright on Franklin

The 2nd Annual Fright on Franklin, presented by City of Clarksville and Planter’s Bank, will once again offer safe trick-or-treating.  Local businesses will line Franklin Street and Downtown Clarksville on Saturday, October 30th to pass out candy.

 Fright on Franklin activities will begin at 4:00pm with a Costume Contest kicking off at 5:00pm.  The Costume Contest is open to all ages. Participants can register before the event at Parks and Recreation or on October 30th, from 4:00pm-4:45pm downtown on Franklin Street. Admission is free.
