Black team’s balance forges victory over White team during Reigning Red

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – The Black team shot 10 of 15 from the floor as it rolled past the White team, 23-14, Friday night, during Reigning Red, Austin Peay State University’s annual basketball tipoff event.

Balanced scoring was the key as newcomer Melvin Baker, a junior forward, scored seven points to lead the way while senior guard Caleb Brown and freshman Thomas Greer added five points. Greer also had a game-high three assists.

For the White team, junior center John Fraley, who was second in the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding a year ago, led all scorers with nine points and five rebounds.

Both the Govs and Lady Govs were introduced to some 600 people who were in attendance, Friday night, before the scrimmages began. The Govs scrimmaged for 20 minutes with a running clock. 

The Governors will begin practice in earnest, 8:00am, Saturday.
