Nighttime and Weekend Lane Closures on Interstate 40 in West Nashville

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – Work continues to progress on the state’s second largest Recovery Act funded project on I-40 at White Bridge Road in west Nashville.  Beginning tonight and continuing each night for the next week, crews will close lanes on Interstate 40 in both directions to begin demolition of the White Bridge Road overpass.

Daytime lane closures on I-40 are also planned for Saturday, October 23, 2010 to perform pavement repairs.

The closures are as follows:

  • Wednesday October 20th through Wednesday October 27, 8:00pm until 6:00am (each night) – I-40 will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews begin removing the west side of the White Bridge Road overpass. One lane will remain open in each direction.
  • Saturday October 23rd, 6:00am until 8:00pm – The right lane of I-40 East and West will be closing for milling and paving operations. Two lanes will remain open in each direction.

The lane closures are part of the Interstate 40/White Bridge Road Interchange Modification Project, which includes new flyover ramps from I-40 East to Briley Parkway North and Briley Parkway South to I-40 West, and the replacement of the White Bridge Road overpass. The $32 million project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and is scheduled to be complete in August 2011.
