Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

“Art on the Park” Contest Winners Announced

“Art on the Park” ContestThe following are the top four winners of the contest.

  • First place – Paola Torres
  • Second place – Nic Hadden
  • Third place – Christina Bucaro
  • Fourth place – Ginger Slebodnik

The winners have been given the opportunity to paint their design on various walls of the Heritage Park Skate Park. Painting of the winning murals began Saturday, October 23rd. 

The project will last several days until completion.

Registration for the Adult Basketball League Has Been Extended

Adults ages 18 and up now have until Monday, October 25th to sign up for the adult basketball league. Registration can be done at any or our three community centers or at the Parks & Recreation’s main office from 8:00am-4:30pm.

Games will begin December 4th.

FREE Yoga Class

Burt-Cobb Community Center will be offering a free yoga class on October 25th from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Fright on Franklin

The 2nd Annual Fright on Franklin, presented by City of Clarksville and Planter’s Bank, will once again offer safe trick-or-treating. Local businesses will line Franklin Street and Downtown Clarksville on Saturday, October 30th to pass out candy.

Fright on Franklin activities will begin at 4:00pm with a Costume Contest kicking off at 5:00pm. The Costume Contest is open to all ages. Participants can register before the event at Parks and Recreation or on October 30th, from 4:00pm-4:45pm downtown on Franklin Street.

Admission is free. Prizes for winners include a four pack of ICE tickets, Xtreme Lazer Tag Package, Jump Zone Gift card and much more!

Archery to Be Offered Again

ArcheryThe Kleeman Community Center will soon offer two archery classes for youth, grades 4-12, beginning November 1st. A beginner’s class will be held from 4:00pm-5:00pm and an advanced class will be held from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Both classes will meet every Monday for four weeks.

The cost is $10.00 per student for the entire session.

Winter Gym Program

Every year, the Parks & Recreation Department and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System partner to provide a free winter gymnasium program for recreational basketball free play. The program is offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Byrns-Darden Elementary School Gymnasium from 6:00pm–9:00pm from November 1st, 2010 through March 30th, 2011. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Calling all Carolers!

CarolersHere’s your chance! We’re looking for carolers and choirs to sing at Christmas on the Cumberland, December 17th and 18th between 6:00pm-8:00pm. Reserve your thirty minute or one hour spot today!
