Listen to the story of the Bell Witch this weekend

SPIRIT, The Authentic Story of the Bell Witch

Adams, TN – Come to Bell School Grounds in Adams, Tennessee this weekend and take a step back in time to 1804 when middle Tennessee was still the frontier. It was this year, for reasons unknown, that John Bell moved his family from North Carolina to the Red River area now known as Adams. Shortly after they settled in, that strange noises began to be heard around the Bell house. Over time, the sounds slowly evolved into an eerie voice that called it itself Kate. The Bell family was tormented by Kate. Objects were moved by invisible hands, and the witch even pinched and slapped members of the household.

Kate especially hated John Bell and his youngest daughter Betsy. For years, Betsy bore the brunt of the witch’s physical abuse, even when guests visited to be entertained by the witch at the Bell home. The events culminated in John Bell’s death, for which Kate gleefully claimed responsibility for. The witch even sung bawdy songs at his funeral.

Word of the events spread far and wide, and today the legend is well known. Countless theories have emerged to explain the phenomenon, but the mystery of the Bell Witch remains unsolved to this day.

On October 28th-30th, the Bell family, friends and neighbors come back to tell their story to those sitting around the open air pavilion on the Bell School Grounds. The events from that time come back to life on stage leaving those in attendance to make up their own minds on what occurred.
