Autumn Comes Alive During LBL’s Fall Frolic

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Enjoy the changing colors and cooling temperatures at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area, when you help Woodlands Nature Station (NS) celebrate the fall season, Saturday & Sunday, November 6th and 7th, 2010.

The two-day long “changing of the season” celebration, called Fall Frolic, will feature a variety of environmental education events and fun filled activities, including fall hayrides and live music. “Fall Frolic is the perfect opportunity to bring the whole family outside to enjoy the fall weather and participate in a variety of fun outdoor programs and activities,” said Carrie Szwed, public programs coordinator at the NS.

Grab your sweater and enjoy an old-fashioned wagon ride through the woods of LBL during one of our fall hayrides.  These staff-led rides will include fun learning activities and great nature-viewing opportunities that all ages will enjoy. The 30-minute hayrides are $2.00 per person and leave regularly throughout the day, 10am-4pm on Saturday, and 11am-4pm on Sunday. Seating is limited; visitors are required to sign up at the NS front desk the day of the hayride.

Smokey Bear will make appearances throughout the weekend for visits, memorable pictures, and to provide visitors with fire prevention information. Admission to NS is $4.00 ages 13 & up, $2.00 ages 5-12, free for ages 4 and under. The following is a list of Fall Frolic activities:
