Portion of Hillsboro Road Will Close for 24 Hours for Bridge Work

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close a short section of Hillsboro Road near the Davidson-Williamson County line for a 24 hour period this weekend to complete major bridge work. The closure is located just south of Old Hickory Boulevard at the bridge over the Little Harpeth River. The bridge will close at 8:00pm Friday, November 5th, 2010 and will reopen no later than 8:00pm Saturday, November 6th, 2010.

During the closure, crews will place forms across the entire roadway and will pour the new concrete bridge deck. The work is part of a $3.5 million project to replace the bridges that cross over the Little Harpeth River and Beech Creek. The project is expected to be complete by November 30th, 2010.

Franklin Road will be used as the primary detour route for north and southbound traffic on Hillsboro Road. A number of local streets can also be used to detour around the work zone. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes, and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations. TDOT asks drivers to use extreme caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
