Fort Campbell, KY – A remembrance ceremony honoring Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, is scheduled for 4:00pm November 10th at the 101st Airborne Division Headquarters. Remembrance ceremonies are held to honor fallen Soldiers deployed in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and are held monthly, as needed.
The November ceremony will honor the following fallen Fort Campbell Soldiers:
Todd Weaver
1st Lieutenant Todd W. Weaver, 26, of Hampton, VA, died September 9th after being struck by an improvised explosive device as he was leading a dismounted area reconnaissance in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Weaver was an Infantry officer, assigned to Headquarters and headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He joined the Army in October 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2009. Weaver is survived by his wife, Emma Louise Elizabeth Weaver and daughter Kiley Honoria Nell Weaver, all of Clarksville, Tennessee; father, Don A. Weaver and mother, Jeanne N. Weaver, both of Hampton, VA.
Matthew Wagstaff
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Matthew G. Wagstaff, 34, of Orem, Utah died September 21st when a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed in Qalat, Afghanistan. Wagstaff was a UH-60 Blackhawk pilot assigned to Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.
Wagstaff entered the Army in January 2002 and arrived at Fort Campbell in May 2007. Wagstaff is survived by his wife, Tiffany A. Wagstaff of Clarksville, Tennessee. and his parents, Ronald and Suzanne Wagstaff of Orem, Utah.
Jonah McClellan
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonah D. McClellan, 26, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota died September 21st when a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed in Qalat, Afghanistan. McClellan was a UH-60 Blackhawk pilot assigned to Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.
He entered the Army in August 2003 and arrived at Fort Campbell in September 2006. McClellan is survived by his wife, Nina S. McClellan; sons, Ayden J. McClellan and Renn McClellan; daughter, Ayla M. McClellan and parents, Rodney and Leona McClellan, all of Battle Ground, WA.
David Weigle
Staff Sgt. David J. Weigle, 29, of Philadelphia, PA, died October 10th, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Zhari Province, Afghanistan. Weigle was a Cavalry Scout assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He joined the Army in March 2002 and arrived at Fort Campbell in December 2004. Weigle is survived by his son Tristan J. Weigle of Oakland, Calif.; and father, Raymond F. Weigle of North Salem, NY.
Karl Campbell
Sergeant Karl A. Campbell, 34, of Chiefland, FL, died October 4th in Babur, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Campbell was a Cavalry Scout assigned to Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He enlisted in the Army in 1995 as an Infantryman and completed his service in 2003. Campbell enlisted again in November 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in January 2010. Campbell is survived by his wife, Jennifer M. Campbell; son, Charles Campbell and stepson, Ty Bartlett, all of Fort Campbell, KY. Campbell is also survived by daughter, Brea Campbell of Denver, PA; stepson, Joseph L. Goble IV of Starke, FL and parents, Arthur and Audrey Campbell of Chiefland, FL.
Aaron Kramer
Sergeant Aaron K. Kramer, 22, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died September 16th, when his unit was attacked by small arms fire as he was on a routine patrol in Howzemadad, Afghanistan. Kramer was a non-commissioned officer assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in March 2007. Kramer is survived by his wife, Jacklyn M. Kramer of Pleasant Prairie, WI and father, Richard Kramer and mother, Shannon L. Kramer, both of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Andrew Castro
Specialist Andrew J. Castro, 20, of Westlake Village, CA, was killed August 28th, when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Babur, Afghanistan. Castro was a human intelligence collector assigned to Company B, 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
He entered the Army in June 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in February 2009. Castro is survived by his father, Hector Castro of Winnetka, CA, and his mother, Carmen Roman of Westlake Village, CA.
David Hess
Specialist David A. Hess, 25, of Ruskin, FL, died October 10th, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Zhari Province, Afghanistan. Hess was a Land Combat Electronic Missile System Repairer assigned to Company D., 526th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He joined the Army in April 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November, 2009 Hess is survived by his wife, Diane M. Hess, and son, Bryor A. Hess both of Fort Campbell; his mother, Kathryn Dowler of Petroleum, WV; and father, Jeffery A. Hess of Ruskin, FL.
