Soldier dies of wounds suffered while on tower duty

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died November 8th, of wounds suffered by small-arms fire while on tower duty in Sabari, Khost Province, Afghanistan.

Corporal Andrew L. Hutchins, 20, of New Portland, Maine, was a Military Policeman assigned to Headquarters Company, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Andrew HutchinsHe joined the Army in September 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in February 2009. His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Hutchins is survived by his wife, Heather L. Hutchins of Clarksville, Tenn.; father Jeffrey A. Hutchins of Leeds, Maine and mother, Robin S. Poulin of Waltham, Maine.
