Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board recognized local recipients of awards from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. High Schools Director Rosalyn Evans noted that it was unprecedented for one school district to receive as many awards as CMCSS from TSSAA.
Receiving TSSAA honors were: Northeast High basketball coach Al Cooper for Midstate Coach of the Year; Rossview High Athletic Director John Miller for Midstate Athletic Director of the Year; Rossview High principal Frank Myers for Midstate Administrator of the Year; and Rossview High School, which is one of three finalists for the A.F. Bridges good sportsmanship award. The winning school will be announced Thursday by TSSAA.
The School Board also presented a Point of Pride award to Northwest High school counselor Karen Stasiorowski. Bringing colleges, universities and higher learning institutions together with more than 1,000 juniors, seniors and their parents is no simple task. Stasiorowski has done just that for the past five years in the CMCSS. She has coordinated the College Night for local schools, contributing to its participation growth both in numbers of colleges represented, and student and parent attendance. She has been an unsung and behind-the-scenes organizer, responsible for connecting students with their goals and dreams of higher education.
