Governor’s Volunteer Stars Announced

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Congratulations go to Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp and Chris Davis for being selected the Montgomery County recipients for the 2010 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards.

Beauchamp, the Montgomery County Adult winner, serves on numerous boards and committees of local organizations. She is the Board Chairman of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce and a member of Sunrise Rotary. Beauchamp volunteers at the Good Samaritan Clinic, is president of the Montgomery County Chapter of Friends of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and she volunteers for a medical mission to Haiti annually. She is a very busy person, but still finds time to help those in need – both in Montgomery County and around the world.

Davis, the Montgomery County Youth honoree, has participated in Mission Clarksville since its inception in 2007. He was instrumental in linking Mission Clarksville’s produce with the “Sunday Dinner Hunger Relief Program” at Madison Street United Methodist Church. He also volunteers three to four hours a week serving as public address announcer for the Rossview High School boys and girls soccer teams.

He has served for the last four years on the Student Advisory Committee for the Montgomery County School System, providing a voice for the youth of Clarksville. Davis participates each summer in mission trips sponsored by his church, where he works in urban homeless shelters, centers for disabled children and ministers to nursing home residents.

Beauchamp and Davis were honored at a reception in Nashville on November 15th and both will be honored during the December County commission meeting with proclamations from County Mayor Carolyn Bowers.

Volunteer Tennessee coordinates the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards at the state level. Volunteer Tennessee is the 25 member bipartisan citizen board appointed by the Governor to oversee AmeriCorps and service-learning programs and to advance volunteerism and citizen service to solve community problems in the Volunteer State.
