Clarksville, TN – At around 6:30pm on November 22nd 2010 two vehicles were racing on 101st Airborne Division Parkway when one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle at Northwind Drive leaving the road to the north side of 101st Airborne Division Parkway becoming airborne and ending up lodged in the middle of a privacy fence in the backyard of two homes off of Grassmire Drive.
Emergency Personnel responded finding the driver still trapped in his vehicle. After stabilizing the driver, Clarksville Firefighters cut the roof off of the vehicle freeing the trapped driver at around 8:00pm.
The driver was then transported to the EMS station 21 on Peachers Mill Road from which he was transported by Life Flight to Vanderbilt Medical Center at 8:30pm.
The driver ended up with broken vertebrae in his back, and both lungs had compression punctures. He is expected to be ok, but was admitted to Vanderbilt Medical Center for the night.
Clarksville Police Department officers identified the other driver involved in the race at the scene, and issued the him a citation for drag racing.
When the hospitalized driver is released, he will be receive a citation for drag racing as well.
